recs and not recs
18 Sep 2003 01:57 ami think i need a backrub. ::wince:: and in other non fic news, kitteh=cute. me=crave barbeque potato chips.
i like highlander slash. i miss it! something can't go on my recs page just because i enjoyed it when it's this bad, but i have mixed feelings. i liked the idea of the crossover, and obi is ooc in a particularly amusing manner. but the commas are bad, and there're weird typos, on top of everything else (summarized, briefly, as 'wtf?'). but you might enjoy it too, if you like qui/obi and highlander and don't mind overlooking a profusion of flaws in varying sizes. and some misplaced commas.
aww, and here's one that's already on my recs page. a sparring practice session and some ust. and then a first kiss.
one i will rec, though i also debated it: restoration by cecilia. a piece of pre-slash which tries to handle some heavy issues and can't hold up under their weight, perhaps. a good story, with some even better moments, but not unflawed.
and three more to add by chelle, hope, silence, and at long last. qui-gon and obi-wan are caught between two feuding tribes locked in a genocidal war, trying unsuccessfully to craft an accord. they slip close to darkness and also start having sex. a very serious series, and flawed, but it's stayed with me, for some reason, for more than a year since i first read it. that counts for something.
for some reason i find it intensely funny that there's an abc series which goes from a to q and yet hasn't been updated remotely recently.
and it's always a pleasure to read one of the (few) stories by cori lannam. this one, i feel, weakens at the ending. nc-17, romance, first-time.
