pride and prejudice

that said, i never have found the end of p&p entirely emotionally satisfying. i suppose it was a fairly early work, and left alone austen might have come into her full powers, and outgrown her fear of the power of the emotional climax.
i at first thought the elizabeth too pretty. certainly she was prettier than jane, which was silly, but her figure would not have been considered good for that time, and from certain angles her face might appear less than perfectly attractive, i guess. i'm grasping at straws here because i did like her in the part a great deal.
lydia looked disturbingly like an ugly helena bonham-carter. and bingley was played by someone whose name was bonham-carter (^.^).
