cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (i kind of dig this)
So you know, a few weeks ago, I turned the little album art window on in iTunes so I could stare at the album art while music played, but I had to leave iTunes open for that. And a bunch of times I thought, you know, the miniplayer version of iTunes should totally have room for the album art in it! And I was sad. But it didn't occur to me to, you know, check, and then today I discovered that, in fact, you can pop out the album art and resize it and make it hover on top of things right along with the mini player. Now I'm staring at the completely unmoving album art all through the song as if it's something special or something.

I spent 80% of today reading about sociology's third granddaddy (Weber is kind of my favourite granddaddy, but I like Durkheim's theories better, in spite of all his positivist and functionalist leanings) until my brain liquefied. The result of that was that I had sociology on the brain when I checked my friendslists and saw yet another cluster of people who I really, really hope are as well-meaning as they are set on changing the subject away from racism. I restrained myself from scanning textbook pages demonstrating the relevant terms, because it's not like you couldn't find out from Google or like these are particularly arcane theoretical concepts. But just for the record, "status" doesn't mean "amount of love someone is deserving of", nor does "skill" mean "exhausting".

ALSO. I've been buying and rereading all of Georgette Heyer's mysteries. And, well, the last one I picked up totally shocked me by going to the twincest place in the first chapter. Heyer + twincest = \o/

Did I mention that after she ran out of Fall Out Boy wax moved on to Panic! At The Disco? And, obviously, I did too.

This vid pretty much represents the last four days of my life (well. of my free time) in hilarious visual form. I was going to embed it here, because I love it THISMUCH♥ and I keep laughing no matter how many times I watch it. But I decided to spare your[pl.] friends page, because I'm sure there aren't actually that many people who want to see P!ATD in "Idiot Boyfriend" (although, note: you don't need to know who they are). (Wax recognised "Idiot Boyfriend" - a song by Jimmy Fallon from SNL - even though I didn't, so maybe you will, too.)

And it turns out that I didn't crush wax's mojo! So if she doesn't finish the post-apocalytic Brendon-Urie-meets-FOB-in-a-futuristic-gulag fic, it won't be my fault. I just hope she doesn't kill everyone. Maybe she'll get distracted with emergency field medicine or rat-eating1 if we're lucky.

1. You probably think I'm just making this up. I'M NOT.

Dude. ITV's new adaptation of Austen's Persuasion has Anthony Stewart Head as Anne's father!

!!!

It's like they said "What could make cim even more excited than our great-idea-not-so-great-in-the-execution plan of casting Billie Piper in Mansfield Park?"

[livejournal.com profile] isilya: Anne's father is a moron, though?
cim: Yes! But I don't care!

The next step in ITV's plan to fill my life with joy is making a new adaptation of Northanger Abbey, by the way, which is my favourite Austen novel and completely made of WIN, and I've been so consumed with enthusiasm about the whole thing that I wandered over to the Republic of Pemberley several times in the past few weeks and am slowly developing the most acute longing for this shirt, and smaller amounts of longing for these two.
