So, I spent about 14 hours in the Dreamwidth Styles Vortex last night trying to:
  1. Fix the flaws in the other themes of my style which I shared publicly a long time ago

  2. Make a few new styles

  3. Separate every theme out into two levels (fonts & sizes vs. colors & background images)

  4. Migrate hard-coded CSS elements to DWS2C2 elements which can be customized by the end-user via the wizard

  5. Take every single theme I separated out and put them all back together (because the wizard only allows 1 theme layer and the User layer is auto-generated, so the colors kinda have to go in the theme after all)

Well... on the minus side, I became glassy eyed, stayed up till 6am, and didn't finish. And didn't finish reading the bunch of open story tabs I meant to read either. On the plus side, I figured out how it worked and successfully got the wizard working, even though I didn't finish bringing the themes over, and it actually is pretty easy.

On the OTHER minus side, I then slept too late to go to the post office yet AGAIN (post office closes at 4, I think, until Christmas season starts. Or maybe it's 6? I can never make sense of these bizarre Finnish business hours). I have it on good authority that the package contains 3 separate pieces of Iittala china from my Wonderkilling Grandpa Bob and his wife, which is Wax's and my first wedding present of the traditional type.

I woke up today and hooked my mouse and monitor back to Six again (because a WinBorg machine will not boot up and run without interface devices - LAME), turned my computer on in server mode, and copied all the files I've accumulated there over, then turned them both off and switched back over, so I'm now booted up at home on Leia and with all the bookmarks and images I've saved in the past few weeks moved back over. Plus, like 12 hours ago Wax finally got Samba working on Kubuntu again. Apparently the problem is that it doesn't come built into KDE the way it does in Gnome. So our LAN is back at last.

First of all, from the extremely... lucky? blessed?... [personal profile] msilverstar, possibly the longest author's note ever written!

  1. Pairing/Fandom: lotrips, implied PotC RPS - Monaboyd, Johnny/Orlando (although, nothing's really there in that, and the only reason Johnny Depp was even involved in this was because my fandoms never collide, so I'm just going to work with Dominic's man-crush on my husband. <3) also, sort of AU-y, as Beecake supposedly doesn't and never existed, and sort of a future!fic. really, i don't know what was going through my mind when I was writing this.
Theme: .x. The Conservatory, or, "Making Sweet Music" (<- more or less, this never happened.)
Summary: "I mean, all that's left in Scotland is memories. And clean clothes."
Disclaimer: Yeaaaaa, I still obviously own them all and make them act this out for me. So realistic! Johnny Depp touched my hand, though. Ha, bitch, ha! ohai, title credit to Terra Naomi, because I miss when she was just some chick on YouTube. :< reference to Monty Python, reference to Band of Horses, and something I interpret to be a reference to my geometry teacher. It's not, though, since I wrote this before the school year started.
A/N: DEAR GOD, I JUST KEPT WRITING AND WRITING AND WRITING AND IT'S LIKE A NOVEL NOW I'M SORRY. MAYBE I SHOULD JUST WRITE 50,000 WORDS OF PWP MONABOYD ANGSTFLUFFSMUT AND CALL IT MY NANOWRIMO AMIRITE. Also, this whole thing was just sort of like a project for me, and the first few paragraphs were handwritten, and after I finished the first draft I went on vacation, printed out all thirty plus pages of this, and edited it by hand (and changed a major plot point to later in the story, which made for re-writing even more stuff by hand), and then typed it all out on the computer. Like, I really dedicated more than five hours to just editing this, jesuschristiamthesaddestpersoniknow. Anyway, it occurred to me in the middle of this that I really moar or less took my two obsessions - Johnny Depp and Monaboyd - and ruined one of them with the other, and it just made me lol lots. Anyway, I really think this was the best possible way I could have wasted the last month of my life, so maybe your tummy will tickle as much as mine did. (oh, and sometimes, get all knotty and angry and blahblahblah.) oh, and hey! it got to the point where i thought that if I threw 13,000+ words dedicated to Monaboyd at everyone in a oneshot, it would be a tad bit intimidating. As the story was already divided up into five parts, I decided to publish this in chapters as I finish putting the final touches on self-beta-ing. when all five chapters are up, I'll post the whole story together, as it was originally written. hurrah. p.s. guise turns out there's six chapters. Sorry for the wait? (I know, I know, it's not exactly excusable.)

  2. Okay. So. Still in the mood for the other four?

  3. Summary: Frank has always loved motocross, but he wants to try something new. With money, a girl, and plenty of good friends... Is he really happy?

  4. [On a Supernatural Dean/Castiel fic] Warnings: Mentions of religion

  5. Warnings: violence, domestic abuse, drug use
Additional warning: This is based on a prompt that calls for Kris to behave very much out of character. I've tried to provide some explanation for his behavior in this story, but if the idea of Kris being mean and scary is just offensive to you under ANY circumstances, this MIGHT not be the fic for you :P JSYK
Summary: Kris is tired of being the "Pocket Idol". Feeling insecure about his size and "cuteness", Kris goes to extreme measures to bulk up -- having no idea what the consequences will be for himself, Adam, and their relationship.

  6. Disclaimer: I would love to say I own MCR but I dont...
