Yay, Yuletide! I got two Charlie and the Chocolate Factory stories, and since I couldn't decide if I wanted more magical gen working partnership or slash, that was very lucky because one of them was slash, and one of them was a magical gen working partnership! I will post about them again at more length later when I start to post some Yuletide recs - I haven't read enough of the archive yet. But both of them were utterly delightful, and best of all, they've literally doubled my number of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory bookmarks on delicious. (After how much I enjoyed writing this year, private panic aside, who'd've thought I could enjoy receiving just as much as giving? Not I!)

Yay, Christmas! Wax and I opened five presents last night which between them contained four teacups. Two of them were packaged together so it's not really true that EVERYONE gave us teacups - and my parents gave us money which we were strictly advised to spend on books, and I haven't even ordered more than three books out of it yet, so. But still, as Wax said, "Everyone knows us very well!" And it's true! We also, at our wedding party a month ago from her family, got two tea strainers, and three bags of loose-leaf tea, so. Yes, they really do. And honestly, if all five packages had contained tea things I think we'd have been delighted. We really do love tea that much.

In Darkest Week of the Year pluses, we haven't had to do anything this year except have rice porridge yesterday morning with my brother-in-law's wife's mother and stepfather (the Norwegian, who was my first translating job, when I translated his whole phd thesis over the course of a couple of years). In Darkest Week of the Year minuses, Wax has a miserable cold, and has had for the past three days. She is now in the stage where she can't breathe, and we're out of tissues and the store is closed, and she hasn't even gotten out of bed to read Yuletide today. Poor bb.
