Best Brownies Mishap
22 Mar 2022 10:57 pmI accidentally baked a tray of brownies with 1 tsp instead of 1/4 tsp of salt today!
These are surprisingly way less horrible than the time I made a cake with, what was it, like 2½ times the amount of sugar? (There was a converting-from-imperial-to-metric-by-hand confusion, a doubling-the-recipe-or-not confusion, AND accidentally using hot cocoa powder - sweetened - instead of baking cocoa powder.)
Like, they're not disgusting, but they're... palpably too salty. You know at once that this isn't some kind of weird chef idea, but a mistake, because it's just too weird with this amount of salt otherwise.
As you're eating it the salt keeps reminding you of itself, again and again.
Really, they taste like a joke. I've never eaten anything that tastes like a joke before. But these brownies do. They taste like they're taking the piss. Probably pointing and laughing at you as you're chewing.
