cimorene: white lamb frolicking on green grass (pirouette)
I have finished and blocked my cardigan, and sewn in the buttons and loose ends, and, after approving the fit, I have knitted pockets for it which I have to block and sew on.

Also I finished a hat for Wax, started a pair of fingering weight socks (BORING!!), and darned a bunch of tiny holes in three different merino undershirts. Unfortunately my favorite v-neck charcoal merino undershirt from Icebreaker was among them, and it is no longer presentable for work wear, so while it can still be worn as an undershirt, I guess I have to replace it. Maybe. I'm thinking about it.

I eventually decided to try buying a couple of pairs of wool stockings because I don't trust myself to get around to knitting them any time soon (short socks are boring enough), and that's annoying. I did buy enough wool for one pair, and for once the wool cost about the same as a finished pair of stockings instead of five times as much (although there's more wool in it, since the purchased ones are much finer gauge, being machine knitted). Probably because they aren't popular enough to create a big economy of scale for producers. There's a lady in the UK who makes them with a working Victorian sock-knitting machine and hers cost more because of the extra hand-labor, and I'm so so curious (but not curious enough to brave the post-Brexit tariff, yet).

I'm probably going to make these, but longer so the fold is above the knee instead of under: Little Cable Knee Highs by Purl Soho (free pattern). I've got more patterns to consult for reference. Also maybe I'll make some footless socks, or long fitted legwarmers instead, to remove the necessity of darning the heels. I can't see wearing such warm socks with any shoes less warm than boots anyway.

I was thinking about finally essaying a Fair Isle vest, and started examining patterns and doing math; but I think I need another lightweight cardigan first. Menita was having a sale on Drops alpaca yarns, so I bought a bunch of light green yarn. I picked a Guernsey pattern, which will hopefully be interesting enough to motivate me to finish (unlike the cardigan I'm finishing now, which was all stockinette).

I found a few new YouTube creators to watch, too, about history and costuming, so I haven't had to stop and hunt for something new to watch every few hours. Hope that lasts.
