election results
8 Nov 2006 02:13 pmnpr has a colour- and symbol-coded map of the us election results divided into senate, house and governor tabs.
i made the mistake of going to alabama public radio first and checking out the alabama results alone. ugh, thinking about how conservative it is there makes me feel slimy and skin-crawly.

Date: 8 Nov 2006 01:25 pm (UTC)the map's not hard to understand based on the key. the white states don't have elections at all this year; the states get to decide that themselves and some have their congressional elections at the same time as the presidential elections (so in 2008) and some in the off years.
in the senate tab the blue states elected democratic senators and the red states republican senators. in the house tab you have to click each state because the number of representatives per state is determined by population, so there's more than one seat per state up. there's a running total at the top of both those tabs to show who controls the house and senate and how many seats the parties have. the "control of the __" line through the bars at the top indicates how many seats the party has to have to hold the majority/control the policy decisions assuming votes fall on party lines.
