Today's wtf-inducing Hufvudstadsbladet headline: Hellre kärnkraft än ryska semesterfirare.

In other words, "Better nuclear power than Russian tourists" - WHAT?

It's about a little town that's got some cool scenery where a Russian company wants to build a big resort hotel and the pea-sized brains of the inhabitants are upset because they still hate on all Russians, basically. (There's a sneeze-and-you'll-miss-it mention of the scenery and Viking graves in the woods.) The whole article's about that except the last para: "PS. A nuclear company also wants to build a power plant. Both projects can't happen and the local government wants at least one. But this one dude says he prefers the power plant. TEH END." As Wax says, the Russian hate is... kind of embarrassing.

Every Finn I ever met (and for some reason, it's been a few) HATES RUSSIANS. I'm not saying they don't have good historical reason to hate Russia, but it can be weird. My favourite alcoholic Finn refuses to touch Stolichnaya and will threaten to withhold Finlandia rights if you even let her see you have it in the cupboard.

Oh, I've no doubt! They're from a very select demographic, I would never consider them typical. Apart from anything else, they're mostly Londoners now.
