Project Runway Canada is so much cooler than the American one!

It's exchanged Heidi Klum for Iman. Iman! Also, it's in Toronto. And the music is better. The production values don't seem really awful in comparison either (like Project Catwalk, for example) - it looks about the same.

Of course, there's no Tim Gunn, and he's the greatest thing about PR, but in the last season there was some work sometimes making myself put up with the rest for his sake. \o/

Iman is fucking hot. She and David Bowie are the fiercest couple on Earth.

Needed? If you mean she doesn't get advertising campaigns, Iman does a perfectly normal amount of work for a supermodel in her circumstances. She has no need to work at all. She can pick and choose her occasional print ads and runway work, and I believe she devotes more time to philanthropy and chilling with her rockstar husband nowadays. She's like 40! I'm not surprised if she'd rather do some other things with her time that don't require that amount of international jet-setting and constant working out. PR isn't a job that a model takes because she's strapped for work - they court the hosts for it and Heidi, at least, invested money in the original. They both obviously have a certain amount of control over the outcomes as judges.

And I've never had any tolerance whatsoever for soap operas, so I can't make any comparisons to any of their theme songs, but I don't think I would like the themesong any less if I thought it sounded familiar. It's still catchy. We all have our own musical taste, of course. My feelings won't be hurt if everyone in the world doesn't agree with me.

Wow. First of all, sorry for my crappy formatting in my first comment, I was surfing the the net via my mobile phone, which makes writing very tricky.

Second of all, I thought you were being sarcastic in your entry. That is because I see the Project runway Canada theme song as horrible as they get. And the title scenes? No vise crack quotes from the contestants, just misty glamour shots of them fitting a piece of fabric on a mannequin, like it would be vital to present the contestant as pretty as possible for the viewers. The title song and shots are just way too cheesy, and in a bad way at that.

And about the needing thing. You got my point wrong. I think that the show requires ("needs") campiness that Iman doesn't possess. She is too serious. She just doesn't do camp. I gringe every time I hear her signature line, "you just don't have what it takes" or something similar to that. That isn't in the same level of "auf Wiedersen" or "Fashion has no mercy".

On the other hand, I like the contestants and the challenges. Hell, I love all and every project there is. I'm even pondering on downloading the german version, even when I don't understand a word of German.

Really? I find it to be deeply and unutterably BORING. there is no drama! Iman is scary! Their fake Tim Gunn is not nearly as good as the real thing! Toronto is not nearly as cool as New York! The judging is not the same without NINAGARCIA!

But at least the production values are good. A Canadian knock-off series getting it right on the first season? GASP!

(Err, hello! I just read your Bob/Ray story and came to see if you'd written anything else, and then got distracted by talk of reality TV, my other favourite thing.)

It's much easier to find my fiction through my website, where "Absence..." was posted, by clicking the main page link at the bottom of the story. I also have a fanfic journal for backups that I don't really keep quite up to date, but in any event, it's linked in my userinfo.

As for Project Runway... er... yes, really? I really don't find it boring and I really like Iman better than Heidi and I really like the format of the show even without Tim and I really don't like Nina Garcia. All of these are of course matters of personal preference. I don't personally have any problem with Project Catwalk, either, which also has a "fake Tim Gunn" acting as a mentor since in all cases they're going for a domestic designer.
