I think his concern for Spock is so awwwww-inducing. And If he's careful in that scene not to come on to Spock, well, they're totally all over each other - in front of McCoy and Chapel, too! - in the 'Jim isn't actually dead' scene. They were practically going to make out then and there! And then Spock was like, 'Oh, uh. People watching. Huh. Good thing you're not all beat up and, y'know, dead, Jim,' And Jim was like, 'Yeah, although you better check. You can give me a full physical examination later. In my quarters.'
