via [livejournal.com profile] mecurtin, Bad MS Paint Stick Figures Explain the Meltdown. And today, the teapot I wanted was on sale, so I bought it. I also bought some clothes and a new camera, but honestly, I'm most excited about the teapot. It's just so PRETTY.

PS. I expressed my sadness that Locutus the Laptop (Picard until we wiped Vista, reformatted twice to be sure, and installed WinBorg XP, the safe, secure and stylish ms-free hack) would be lonely and OTP-less, and Wax took pity on me him and christened his media drive Q. ♥

I'll have to link that Meltdown-explanation to my blog! If only they would make a same kind of thing about Iceland's financial crisis, too.

You didn't happen to buy that Canon Ixus 10.0 from hullut päivät, did you? Because I did...

Cool. I'm just like, "Does it work with my mac without installing anything? I'll take it." That's how much I know about cameras.

lol yeah. I know um... the range of megapixels in the low end now, and what they usually cost, and the difference between digital and optical zoom, and I know that Nikon and Canon and Olympus are the most trustworthy brands. Other than that, I want to be able to stuff it in my pocket and to point and click! My dad has a Coolpix though and he really liked it and my last camera was a Canon and it was somewhat annoying, sometimes, so I thought I'd give one of the other big names a try anyway. I did actually go to Stockmann today thinking to look for a camera but it was so crowded and the selection wasn't that great, so I decided to go somewhere a little more peaceful where I could actually get a salesperson to talk to me. ^_^

I love teapots too! I only have two, because I usually don't brew tea by the pot anymore. :( My mom has a huge teapot and teacup collection though. :D

I had a Kodak EasyShare (L has it now) and I really liked many things about it. In digital cams, I have heard Nikon is not easy to use. L assured me the Sony I inherited stupidly from her got good reviews, ad it take really good pix, but it is a SONY and that sux, and it is not user friendly. Kodak ESs are cheap if you stick with 7 mp, and the higher the megapixels the longer they take to load on my dinosaur pc. If you don't plan to print, do you need so many mps?

Well, I already have the Nikon, and I can't imagine there can be much difficulty to use it. In fact it seems very straightforward and also almost exactly like the Canon I used before. And I wasn't willing to buy a camera outside of the three main camera brands (Canon, Nikon, Olympus). The lens is important, here, not just the electronics, and I don't trust Sony anymore.

My computer doesn't have any trouble loading - especially not simple images - since it's running Linux and has lots of hd and RAM, so that wasn't a concern. If I didn't have enough I'd just have bought more ram and hd and put them in it - it's not like they're very expensive, either. It's silly to keep using a computer as old and obsolete as you and Daddy keep doing when it's possible to simply replace and upgrade the individual parts without even having to buy a new one.

The benefit of a great number of mps is a) clarity and b) the ability to enlarge digitally to make clear closeups.
