Sooo I've got about 15,000 words of Batman/Gordon based on The Dark Knight. Would anyone be willing to beta this monster for me, please?

[tentative hand up] I've never really done beta work in fandom (and those creative writing classes where a while ago), but I've got a pretty good handle on characterization and story flow, so. Would be happy to look it over.

Wonderful! I know I trust your judgement aside from worrying hints of Kirk/McCoy, and it's not like I need a certificate of English Majoring. That's what spellcheck is for! I'm not sure I really know what to think about what I've got, because of the way my idea of what the hell I was doing changed several times, gradually, over the course of writing it (it started life as two separate drabbles for the kinkmeme, neither of which became sexy at all, and which I then pasted together and wrote a plot around). As it currently stands, no one has looked at it but waxjism and my all-purpose cheerleader perhael, both entirely uncritical audiences who tend to just say "I liked it!"

Hahhahahah. Oh. That does make me feel better!

I mean, I keep running against this problem where I totally see why, based on the McCoy-Kirk dynamic on paper, you might want to read that - it's just that when I watch them together in canon (uh, I mean, TOS canon), I don't get chemistry.

Same with Spock and Uhura in TOS canon, and in their case, I actually love their dynamic far more than Kirk-McCoy (which is fun, but just nowhere near as hilarious) - possibly because of my unspeakably large love for Uhura, IDK. Actually, if you assume sexual attraction between them I think it would detract greatly from many of the scenes between them that I love. :/

...But then I also ship Kirk/Spock (more than any other pairing ever) and Uhura/Scotty (much more mildly).
