I don't expect a non-misogynist attitude to shoes from him because I'm familiar with his views from Project Runway. I don't think that's a pass, just realism. He's definitely a cog in the machine, here - a worshipper of the machine, even an evangelical! Which is to be expected from anyone running a makeover show or holding a high-up position in the world of fashion such as the director of a prestigious fashion design school (his former job) or the creative head of a major women's wear label (his current job).
