I haven't been particularly worried about the swine flu. I'm not its target demographic except by being young, and although I am not one of those people who never gets colds, I almost never get flus, and besides, I rarely leave the house, which exposes me to very few contagions. But the media's been stupidly panicky about it and I keep reading articles in the newspaper that, while they strongly annoy me, also make me start feeling distinctly hunted. I had to take a Xanax after reading the newspaper today, and then lie down in bed, under the pile of blankets with the cat, counting my breaths for twenty minutes. My stomach is anxiety-upset although I hope I won't be having an anxiety attack attack of acute anxiety now. I'm worried about going to class in a few hours, because I haven't eaten and still feel all jittery.

I'm part of three risk groups for the swine flu, so I'm going to go get vaccinated as soon as I can. I'm more worried about my mom catching the flu, though.

I hope you eat and feel better! Some of my friends have had h1n1, and it sounds extremely uncomfortable. I'm hoping to get the vaccine early enough to avoid it.

I've actually had swine flu (New Zealand was one of the first countries to get it) and while it wasn't a walk in the park, it wasn't any worse than a normal flu. This opinion is shared by everyone I know who's had it.

The media just likes blowing up about this stuff. It's not nearly as OMGterrible!! as they say.

On the other hand, my Canadian bff hollsh has had it for a few weeks, and it's led to so much pain she's on codeine and a number of secondary infections despite her early doctor's visit.

I think she's dogged with some kind of 1/100 horrible bad luck in EVERYTHING, not just the flu, but obviously with this being my closest piece of anecdotal evidence I'm a bit @_@ right now. Also, I'm one of those people who freaks out about even the thought of vomiting.

Well it didn't make me throw up, if that's any comfort. I *hate* vomiting with a passion, so I know your pain on that one.
