cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (drama)

I am less attached to my specific details and more to you writing a story you want to write; I hope one of my requests looks like it will be fun for you, because I firmly feel the writing ought to be the best part of Yuletide. That doesn't mean I don't have preferences, but I'd rather you disregard my details if you dislike them.

1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Charlie/Willy Wonka

I'd probably never have thought of this fandom on my own, but I read a story that was so inspiring and magical that it instantly made me realize how delightful more exploration of the world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory could be. I love the magical fun and magical realism and the wacky, wry undertone to the Burton interpretations of it. I love children's literature about magic, and I love to see how the child's relationship with that magic evolves into an adult's. I request Charlie/Willy Wonka here, but understand that while I love mentor slash relationships I hate chan. I'm absolutely not asking for anything like that, and the slash request is entirely secondary to my interest in the mentor relationship, perhaps evolving into a working partnership? Or a coming-of-age Charlie story could be wonderful, even without Wonka. I wouldn't say no to more Willy Wonka gen, either.

2. Naomi Novik's Temeraire series: Laurence/Tharkay

Especially in light of Victory of Eagles, I adore Laurence/Tharkay. What happens next? How do they work together in the future? What were Tharkay's motivations throughout his appearances in the story, and especially in VoE?

But I'm aware this pairing may not be palatable in a slashy way. Rather than simply gen about the two of them, if you don't like the pairing, I would prefer individual gen. I'm so fascinated by Tharkay, and would love to see more exploration of his life, his adventures in the past, his connection with his Chinese heritage (the more about that the better, if you have knowledge of China to draw on) - perhaps pre-series adventures on the Silk Road, or early episodes with hawks, or what happened to him between his appearances in the different books.

And I know I'm piling the ideas on, here, but another idea I'd love to see in Temeraire if it appeals to you is Wellington and Perscitia and how they perhaps learn to work together or become friends. (I know I didn't request the characters, so this simply a backup suggestion!)

3. Heyer's The Unknown Ajax: Richmond/Vincent

I accidentally signed up for 'any' here when I had meant to specifically request Richmond/Vincent. I won't deny that my main motivation for requesting it was their relationship which I specifically wanted more of, but on reflection I decided to let the request stand. Although I'd much prefer Richmond/Vincent, I also adore Hugh and all his little quirks - especially his sense of humor. Hugh/Anthea post-book is fine, as would be gen about Anthea or Vincent or Richmond individually. My suggestion of something set in London was not a preference, just an idea in case you'd like some inspiration. But please, no romantic pairings splitting apart Hugh/Anthea or Richmond/Vincent.

4. Gaiman's Neverwhere: Richard/Marquis

It should be obvious from my pairing request that I don't want to see Richard/Door, for example, as this is the only pairing I really see in my mind's eye for the series. My preference for relationship is strong, here, but slash per se is not necessary. I said in my request that bromance was just as good as romance: I'd love to see a friendship, or a working partnership, or a frenemies dynamic, or UST. I'd love adventure and, especially, magic. One of the coolest things about Neverwhere's universe, to me, is that whole down-the-rabbit-hole aspect, so I hope you can preserve that sense of wonder and new discoveries for Richard at least, even if you choose a point of view that, unlike Richard's, is an expert on the environment. I'd enjoy backstory on the Marquis as well, or more exploration of the myths and legends and old places buried in London. Or a trip back to London Above could be a fun premise, as well.
