The thing that explicitly sets Dreamwidth apart from IJ and JF, especially, is that this is mark and denise's job. It's a business with an actual budget and funding model and projections -- which are being met and exceeded, allowing them to hire additional staff. It's not a hobby or something that they do on the side or run out of a living room somewhere.

The fact that the software is a fork, not a clone, and therefore there are numerous differences for users -- like the separation of the people you want to read from the people who you want to give access to your locked content, as just one example -- is another explicit difference. And there are more improvements to the codebase coming.
