I was watching things and noticed that the same actress, hot Sri Lankan British Oxford graduate Amara Karan, was in both 2007 campy British school comedy St Trinians and episode 11.02 of Agatha Christie's Poirot, "Cat Among the Pigeons" (the latter also includes the gorgeous Katie Leung, who played Cho Chang in the Harry Potter movies).
So I said to myself, "Coincidentally, self, both these things are delicious to watch because they are set in British girls' schools."
Now, never having been to a boarding or British school of any kind, I am nonetheless certain that I wouldn't like to. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy watching them, though. And reading about them. (If you've got any favorite Girls' School book or story recs, throw them my way! The more lesbian potential the better!) So I decided to use my screencaps for good and not evil by creating A PICSPAM!
Girls' Schools: St Trinians with a dash of Cat Among the Pigeons: A Themed Picspam

WAIT! View in format=light to prevent the big caps from being cut off.
Gemma Arterton says, LET'S DO THIS.

First: Amara Karan.

(NIGHTGOWNS)
I have no idea why half of my Poirot caps are super tiny. I didn't do anything different when I made them... as far as I remember.

Now that that's established... OTP!

Former Bond Girl Gemma Arterton (that was post-Trinians) is Head Girl Kelly, and Talulah Riley is the new girl, Annabelle. Their relationship starts off tense - UST, natch - and progresses to a kind of partnership as the ensemble works together to save the school. Annabelle is a clear candidate for next Head Girl, too.

You'll notice two distinct looks on her here... that's because of the makeover sequence, in which each of the little St Trinians tribes lets her try on their image!

The Chavs:

The Posh Totties (who have their own hotline, and boast to have each slept with a member of the Royal Family):

The Geeks, ruled by Lily Cole in some seriously cute pigtails:

The Emos ("We're not Goths, we're eeeeeeeemos!")

There are no makeover sequences or anything like that in "Cat Among the Pigeons". But there are a lot more scenes with the teachers.

Speaking of teachers, an institution of the girls' school is the headmistress. Miss Bulstrode is pretty awesomely played in "Cat Among the Pigeons" by Harriet Walter, who is modeling some seriously awesome 1930s fashion:

Meanwhile, St Trinians's Miss Fritton is... Rupert Everett. (As they say, starring Rupert Everett and Rupert Everett.)

Miss Camilla Fritton is quite obviously modeled on Camilla Parker-Bowles. Her upper-class British wardrobe and mannerisms are all pretty hilarious.

Possibly the next most important personage in a school, besides the Headmistress, is the Matron. And if not, at least she has a funny job title?

St Trinians' matron is of course a lush (Celia Imrie, incidentally, who played a memorable villain in super-slashy Poirot episode 301, "The Mysterious Affair at Styles"). "Cat Among the Pigeons" sports a slightly larger, more white-haired model.

The Headmistress doesn't need Matron for her sidekick there because she's got this little sour-faced lady who is her business partner and second-in-command:

There was a poignant sort of unrequited longing in that relationship, I thought.
Miss Fritton's actual sidekick is a little dog named Mr Darcy who is quite fond of humping the leg of her old-flame-turned-conservative-Minister-for-Education-antagonist Geoffrey, played by Colin Firth.

Weirdly, the romance between Everett's Camilla and Colin Firth's Geoffrey is actually rather touching in spite of the huge piles of camp and slapstick and all the scenery-chewing. No denying the dudes can act, even if you can practically see the thought bubbles saying "LOL!"

Did I mention Katie Leung and Lily Cole respectively? What about the hotness that is Juno Temple, the chick with awesome pink and blonde dreads in St Trinians?

Here Lily Cole is flanked by Kathryn Drysdale's Taylor, leader of the Chavs on the left (her right), and Paloma Faith's Andrea, leader of the Emos, on the right (her left). These two, along with Kelly, pull the Mission: Impossible part of the heist for great lulz.

The posh totties (Amara Karan's Peaches, along with Tamsin Egerton's Chelsea and Antonia Bernath's Chloe) are the pretty faces providing a distraction for the operation.

Annabelle runs interference and has to take on a bit of trouble-shooting.

Lena Headey is even there! With a weirdly small part, considering that she is Lena Headey, but she's great. And adorable.

There's also Russell Brand as Flash the fence. He tries to ask Kelly out and gets mercilessly shot down. It's awesome. Don't worry, Flash; you can date Miss Fritton's brother who coincidentally looks very much like her!

Also there's Stephen Fry. And he gets high. This is something that should probably happen more often. Sadly I don't have any caps of that. I leave you with this:
