Wow, thanks to a chain of fic browsing that started with Phoenix Wright I ended up stumbling across #5 today. The internet is a small place, etc.

XD I picked it up in the Recent Garak/Bashir Bookmarks on Delicious page! Twice actually, both times with comments akin to "GOOD GOD WHY".

My chain involved Googling for Phoenix Wright fic (after Delicious failed me), coming across The Hoyden, reading everything else on the site in a fandom I knew, deciding to find more Garak/Bashir, discovering a master list of fic and loading the author's journal.

I actually started reading G/B 9 years ago, firmly in the Mailing List Era, but it definitely became a lot more rewarding after Hoyden wrote some. Although actually, quite distinctly from other Trek ships like K/S and P/Q, there was already some fic around back then that still stands up to examination now (without making any allowances for purple prose and the like). Just, well, not very much of it.

My Trek days were before I got online and discovered fanfic/slash so, much like with Picard/Q, discovering Garak/Bashir was like "oh, what a brilliant idea!" (Kirk/Spock I have never been able to get into seriously, not even with the revival.)

It's not the first time I've read the pairing but probably the first time I've actively sought out more. Finding all these text file formatted archives is rather nostalgic.
