   In the context of the sentence used in Chapter 17, meaning (c) is implied.

Summary: Adam is asked to lend his vocals skills after an emotional performance at the Oscars catches the artistic interest of a "High Rock" singer named Calad, right before Adam starts working on his new music video. When the pressures of the music industry and intolerance threaten to test their abilities as artists, the friendship they have formed must hold them together.

So it's a work in progress, then, that this author will remove unacceptable comments from? There's a little voice inside me that insists we should rescue those fans in thrall to this madness, but then I think, nah, let 'em suffer.

On the contrary, I gather that she's rather popular in her fandom and that the comment policy is an ongoing one. I read several comments just on a "Should Character X join the current pairing in a threesome?" poll she'd tacked onto the end, so I can only assume she habitually gets them on her updates as well.

I think it's one of the Iron Laws of fandom that WIPs generally get more comments than you'd get for the same content all at once - people are more inclined to beg (or encourage) when they understand that they're expected (or required) to do so in advance payment for the rest of the story. I myself have experienced the irritation at not getting the next part, even when the story I'm reading is actively bad, and looking at the responses to the early parts posted at kinkmemes I find it impossible to believe that the comments reflect the readers' true opinions. Way too much nauseating fawning goes on there.

IDK, I mean, you could legitimately complain about a comment that was in some way bad, I think, as long as it actually contained something to insult you in some way. But anyone who complains because they don't feel their ego is being stroked enough, or at enough length, or eloquently enough? Yeah, asshole.

Maybe the word is used, but the only clue in the context is some muffled tittering or a wordplay about voyeurism?

I used to have that, but my wall was broken down the first time I found one that I felt sure was being written in all good faith with no intentions to randomly stop, or beg for ego-stroking, and which was genuinely impressive. And after that it was all downhill and now sometimes I comment in kinkmeme WIPs. /o\
