Date: 2 Jan 2012 03:27 am (UTC)* To be completely being honest, I'd have to admit that I probably would not have kept watching the show without the queer visibility component. The show is kind of enjoyable cheese in almost every way, which is something I might watch if bored but not download every week it airs... except that I like how they handle Bo's bisexuality -- she's romantically and sexually attracted to both sexes, and that's just matter-of-factly part of who she is. The challenges in her relationship with Lauren are not about Lauren's gender or a homophobia/coming out narrative. (Not that those narratives aren't important stories to tell, but I like to see other narratives as well -- to see queer relationships portrayed on tv where being queer isn't the issue or a plot device.)
And I guess I also like the idea that Bo's female love interest doesn't have to be a leather pants wearing badass or a Manic Pixy Girl, and Bo can be just drawn to a serious, just slightly awkward female doctor.
