So, in the last week, two things happened in our fandom lives, up to then entirely focused on the Avengers (or like 90% anyway):

1. I completely ran out of Avengers fic to read, even gen, and there wasn't even enough new stuff at AO3 to keep going with, even if I went back and refreshed the 'everything tagged X, most recent first' page like, twice an hour.
   
   Therefore, I went to that page on the AO3 that shows everybody's bookmarks chronologically without any filtering, and just started clicking on some random things. (I got about three pieces of hockey RPF in three different pairings, which I read even though I am allergic to sports using the expedient of skimming or closing one eye any time something related to sports or exercise came up; and also I got some Teen Wolf stuff which I only knew from gifs on Tumblr, and I read it. And some other stuff too, but not multiples of that, and I can't remember what it was.)



2. For some reason Wax decided to actually watch Teen Wolf. (I think the reason was a gifset of Derek shoving Stiles up against a wall.)
   
   She marathoned most of it while I was asleep; I caught, like, a total of 2 whole eps and 2 half eps from both seasons I think. That's because after a little bit, it got too irritating and I got too tired of yelling about how stupid Scott was and made her watch with headphones.
   
   I don't know, though, maybe I will want to give it another try? I'm pretty sure that Highlander was actually worse than it - or at least just as bad, even if Duncan was somehow not as stupid as Scott - and also less naked. Or, well, that guy who played Duncan was naked sometimes but he's kind of repulsive, and Methos was only shirtless the once. Anyway, my point is, I was able to watch all the Methos eps of Highlander like, three times, eventually. So perhaps I should give Teen Wolf another try, and just use more alcohol. Like wine or hard liquor, or both, instead of just cider. A single cider clearly isn't enough. (I was 21 and 22 the year we watched all the Highlander and I seemed to handle hard liquor better then, which is sad because it's not like I handled THAT much of it, but oh well.)

So now I'm trying to pick through the most-read hockey fic on AO3 all gingerly, attempting to guess which ones will mention hockey the least from the headers, because after less than a week I've already read more than half of the Teen Wolf fic out there and that thought is pathetically agonizing, and so I'm trying to stretch the remainder out some.

Scott is nobody's favorite, but the rest of the characters are great. Fast forwarding, muting, or MST3K-ing Scott is a good idea.

Here from network. Have you tried thefourthvine's new hockey fic? The only hockey-thing that gets mentioned repeatedly is the Stanley Cup, and there's a hysterical reason for that.

Most of my Supernatural-loving friends keep telling me that Teen Wolf is an absolutely terrible show that you will wind up loving anyway. I am not exactly sure how that works, but as of this moment I'm a little more than halfway convinced to watch it. I just haven't reached the tipping point yet.

I know but I have seriously read of all of it that is above my goodness threshold and in a pairing I am okay with and not hitting my fic squicks, up to the point like 2 weeks ago where I took a break. There's more now, but not THAT much more.

Also, I do greatly appreciate the existence of the popular/fandom page, of course. But did you know that you can actually get 1 page of popular single-tag results if you type the address in yourself, even though you can't navigate to it in the site? Like: http://pinboard.in/popular/t:avengers/

Yeah... you actually watched every episode of SPN, so I'm guessing you will find it easier to tolerate than I did even though it is definitely significantly worse than SPN. It's the same type of thing, same genre and only slightly younger target demographic, just even more shameless and even more badly-written. I guess it's also less offensive on the race and misogny scales right now but give it time, I'm sure it will fail harder there too.

Yes! I read that right away because I love her stuff, and the first time I tried to read hockey was her fault too, I think. She had some AUs in her recs.

In order to control mute and fast forward I would probably need to watch alone though, and that would be even MORE painful. Looking away from the screen or shouting at it is just the natural substitute, but a judicious application of small doses of tequila would probably work even better.
