fountain pen nib tuning imminent

I’ve been making an effort recently to use the italic stub nib more because of the minority of suggestions that the nib just needs to be softened up with use, but that’s really not it.
In order to attempt to smooth or grind the nib, to separate the tines, or to widen the feed channel, I need some magnification lenses. I found out where to buy them, but I have to walk there, and it’s just SLIGHTLY too far (well, and the route too unpleasant) to easily undertake.
Of course after that I still need to order some mylar film at a minimum. And maybe some of those sandpaper pads or whatever.
