I've been wondering about how we do plumbing in France after watching a lot of This Old House, bc they always explain how important The Stack is, and that we need to vent the whole plumbing installation, etc., but I don't think we have anything like that here and when I tried to ask my Dad he looked at me like I was loopy? I haven't yet tried to find "build your own house / plumbing" manuals in French to see what they say, but one day I *will* crack this mystery.
Also I feel your pain, bc living with this for a whole season sounds horrendous. (Could you maybe leave lots of open contained (bowls?) of baking soda around to absorb the smells?) :((
