my stomach is starting to feel upset. i wonder if this is psychological, or the result of the medicine i was given in advance? and i wonder what the medicine is for, really, because the indications are all about for treating blood pressure and things like that, and at least they could have told me.

my mom, the most helpful person alive, said when informed: 'oh no! and you really have to? did you get a second opinion? that's going to be awful, you poor baby! getting my wisdom teeth out was worse than having a baby. at least after this you'll know that you can have a baby.' ummm, yeah. thanks.

i don't seem to be able to go back to sleep. ::kicks stomach::

*hugs cim* Good luck! Having never had my wisdom teeth out, I can't say I know how you feel, but still. I can only imagine the amount of pain involved. >_< When you get back online, I'd suggest reading lots and lots of yummy slashy fluff to take the pain away.

Well, when I had all four wisdom teeth out, I was okay after about three days. The great thing about it is that you can eat all the ice cream you want :) ... just watch out for dry sockets. :(

As a counter to your Mom's comments, I had no problem and
very little pain when I got out my four wisdom teeth. I
effectively lost 2 days, but by the time I could *find* my
mouth again, nothing hurt, and the anti-inflammatory drugs
kept anything from swelling much. I had a good dentist who
used good drugs. I hope you do too. Good luck!

Don't know what your situation is, but a lot of it seems to depend on if your teeth have "erupted" or not. Mine hadn't -- they were all still under the gum line, and that seems to cause less problems. I had all four out at once, and the worst that happened was that one of the pain meds made me a bit nauseated for about an hour. Otherwise, nary a side effect to be seen; no pain, no muss, no fuss. Mom said she wanted to see the teeth as proof they took them out!

Just thought I'd give an alternate viewpoint, since your mom had such a horrible time of it. Gee, nothing like a bit of stress-relieving support!

It was explained to me that the advance med was a hint of valium and something to help the general anesthetic work faster, though whether you got the same pill, who knows.

Best of luck, anyway!

It must be great, having such cheering and comforting maternal support.

The drugs sound unpleasant. When I had mine out they gave me sodium pentothal. Weird shit, that.Î
