Wax had a 1-day weekend today. We were hoping to drive an entire minivanfull of donations to the Red Cross - there are 6 moving boxes packed with them in the hall, and a bunch more stuff we don't have boxes for. There's like one week of fair-weather driving for the minivan before it needs service, but since it's been sitting outside all winter the battery was dead.

We went to Ängisbacka to look for jumper cables, and we found some in the woodshed (and some paper goods and mulch), and then we filled the car with stinky fabrics that Wax threw down from the attic and two Ikea bags full of spices and dry goods... which is maybe, possibly, finally all the dry goods from the cottage? We think? They were so heavy they had to go to the car in two separate wheelbarrow trips. Also even though quite a few were expired, the remainder almost didn't fit in the pantry.

I read the Twitter thread summary of the Imperial College report and was alarmed. I sent it to my family although so far my parents seem to be doing pretty well at accepting social distancing.

We looked literally everywhere, we think, without finding the china - in the attic, behind and under everything, even inside an antique commode. In the big metal antique tins of flours and biscuits. Under the bed and under the benches. Behind the kitchen chimney. In the sauna and the guest cottage. I now believe we will probably never find it. Whatever.

We tried to jumpstart the minivan from the car, using some videos Wax found on YouTube, but it didn't work. Presumably it's actually all the way dead and will have to be towed. She still wins some butch points because I couldn't figure out how to unlatch the hoods of either vehicle.
