I personally know three people who have already said that menstruation should be suspended for the duration of the crisis. That probably covers my last post, and also this one. I tend to have lingering discomfort that a combination of the top recommended dose of painkillers+chocolate can't banish and this comes out in irritation...

It just occurred to me that it would be viciously satisfying just now to block and report everyone who has:

- tweeted a joke that our cats are "prawns"
- liked that tweet
- tagged a Tumblr post of our cats as anything even slightly uncomplimentary
- including "goblin" for the BB even though in Tumblrese that isn't exactly uncomplimentary, because the BB is the literal embodiment of mammalian perfection and she doesn't even resemble a goblin, she's just very dainty
- tagged a post of the bunnies as "lionhead" (THEY'RE!! NOT!! LIONHEADS!!! AND THEY HAVE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PATTERN OF FUR GROWTH)

Oooh, and also to block everyone on Tumblr whose tags appear in my notifications feed referring to pairings by twee nicknames and portmanteaus (this last one isn't even technically POSSIBLE but I do fantasize about it periodically, and if I'm not being realistic anyway, why not dream big?).

I won't do the more realistic ones either because once I'm no longer in pain and less irritable I would have to go back and undo them all, and I don't have time for that.

But while we're dreaming of better blocking capabilities, I'd like the universe to present me with a way to block twee pairing nicknames and portmanteaus across every platform. I am counting 'IRL' as a platform, too. :/

Do you have a lot of fandom interactions IRL? I don't think I've ever met a twee pairing name face-to-face. It just goes to show there are always new depths of horror!!

Outside of a couple local conventions, I don't really do a lot of IRL fandom interaction, but I figure it's better to cover all my bases. :D

(Also, I think was instinctively counting platforms where interaction isn't the goal, and platforms I'm not a member of, as being more "IRL" than "fandom," so if, e.g., I followed a link from a fandom source to a Twitter account with fanart, I'd like not to run across twee pairing names there. Same goes for browsing fan merchandise on Etsy, and other such random encounters.)

Ah, I see, fair enough. Other people from fandom who are strangers to you and residents of different corners of fandom.

I still loathe them, but I did learn recently that the reason for all these dopey pairing names is that using a slash THE WAY GOD INTENDED fucks up tags and, like, computery stuff.

Still never calling it Spirk.

Yeah, I didn't know that until recently either. On Tumblr I tag like 'kirkspock', if necessary, but with prejudice. If the nickname isn't awful I make allowances, but there is no excuse for Spirk.

I fucking loathe portmanteaus because they automatically exclude OT3+ unless you want something really unpronounceable.

AS for menstruation I am on day fuck knows what of my period. 20, I think. It's been mostly slow but I've had a couple of heavy days. I was meant to be going to see a gyno at the local women's hospital but with all elective surgery suspended I assume that means I won't be getting an ablation, whenever it is they decide they can do it.

Yeah, there are a lot of places on the Web that have fans on them but that I don't really think of as 'fannish platforms.' I'm sure there are thousands of fans on Twitter, but I still don't think of that as a 'fandom site' and I don't have an account there for any purpose, so it's just in that vague lump of stuff people use to complain about politics. :D
