I was reminded of Doge2048, which I used to kill time with in 2014 in the high-level Finnish course I was taking, by seeing a beautiful Shiba Inu walking with its owner locally a while ago. It reminded me of something I'd read about 2048 and I was moved to do it again recently and since then I've spent a bunch of time on it and, weirdly, gotten to the point where I 'win' (by getting the 2048 tile) about once a day or more (in 2014 I never even won once, so I guess perhaps skill follows a similar additive curve as the difficulty involved in reaching each new bigger tile?).

It is an incredibly compulsive thing to do, a bit like Tetris, but not QUITE as bad as Tetris, which I've always ended up having to uninstall for my mental health every time I've started to play it. You can pause as long as you like between each move, which is probably why it's less dangerous and a good distractor for when I want to clear my mind.

Wax's birthday was two days ago. I made her a cookie cake and we did not light 44 candles, although hilariously, we actually could now, because when we moved I lost my large stash of tealights and we ended up buying more, only then I found them and also we found MIL's stash of candles going through HER things as well. The cookie cake was made in a pie tin and is round, and because it was her birthday Wax gave herself permission to cut square pieces out, of it which is something she likes to do and knows flabbergasts me. My parents gave her three berry bushes for her birthday, or rather they priced them and sent the money for them. Berry bushes could have been planted as early as late April, so we need to get these in the ground as soon as possible! We already planted two raspberries, a blackcurrant and a gooseberry, but we're going to add the three blackberries from my parents and also more gooseberry and currant... and we're definitely going to get a bunch of thyme for the rock gardens and a bunch of sage, which is going to go in a big bed of flowers for pollinators with some mixed wildflowers and probably a small flowering bush of some kind (although we haven't quite decided on all the other flowers that are going in).

Happy birthday to Wax, and good luck with the plants.

Happy birthday to Wax!

It seems so odd that you're deliberately planting blackberries form the POV of someone who's only ever seen them as a source of frustration to people who are trying to plant something else.

I have 2048 in a new tab now and am up to 1024 so I think I might win this one.

I googled and European blackberries here in Oz? 'Blackberry is a restricted invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014.'

I am up to doge in sunglasses!
