cimorene: Blue text reading "This Old House" over a photo of a small yellow house (this old house)

You all remember about how half of our radiators don't work and we spent most of the winter miserably huddled in blankets instead of finishing renovations.

The upstairs contains our bedroom, Wax's wfh office and the bathroom, and they're all finished and lovely.

The downstairs contains our finished kitchen and toilet/half bath/"powder room", which are both satisfying and also lovely. It also contains a half-finished livingroom that we use even though the chimney corner walls have to be redone, the sofa needs replaced, and I haven't found adequate curtains. Then there's a dining room which is just full of junk/not unpacked.

The stairwell is still disfigured by the world's ugliest 1970s paper wallpaper of a life-size but low-res reproduction of like, brown and gray patio stones (and this goes up the tall wall of the stairwell all the way to the roof). The bits of hallway at the top & bottom of it just need to be painted and wallpapered so we can put the nice linoleum tile floor down, and we have been putting those off all winter even though there was nothing to stop us finishing it. We already had the paint and wallpaper, with the exception of whatever specialty primers we're gonna need to hide the patio wallpaper wall.

Well, today we're finally getting the front wall painted and we should be able to hang the wallpaper on the curved wall before the end of the long weekend. Then it's the floor and the trim! (Maybe the trim first since I guess the floor is going to take a whole four-day weekend.)

Obviously Tristana, being a kitten, will not appreciate the difference between wall colors and the presence or absence of doorframes, but the more the house feels finished and not like a temporary camp or a construction zone, the nicer (and less stressful) for us! Also once we finish all the construction, hopefully we'll finally be able to take all the construction debris to the dump.
