cimoreneWed 7.4., 20:10 - we arrive at the goth lesbian cat breeders' and go through the formalities over tea and cookies. We remain chatting until nearly 10 pm (oops).
22:30 - we get home and I make us cups of tea and a small snack. Tristana insists on introducing herself to Snookums right away. He runs away. She introduces herself about 5x more, undeterred. He is still running away, and also hissing, so Wax keeps Tristana downstairs and sleeps with her there so Snookums will lie down and I can sleep in the bedroom.
Thu 8.4. - I get up for work at 6, give Snookums a blood test and insulin injection, release one of the bunnies from their cage, etc. Tristana is awake in the livingroom but she goes back under the duvet with Wax after greeting me. Wax has the day off and Tristana spends it eating and sleeping. Snookums is still afraid of her, but he shares Wax's lap with her once and goes to sleep in the same bed as her.
Fri 9.4. - Wax works from home. I get up at 6 to take Snookums to the vet for a teeth cleaning using the new cat carrier, which is sort of a pillowcase-shaped bag with a hole for the cat's head that adjusts with velcro and a zipper at the back, and then a shoulder strap. (This is less heavy than the cat carrier and easier to carry while walking with the weight closer to the body! Snookums liked it better too. Not only did he not complain on the bus, he hid his face in my scarf and dozed off.) Wax takes off an hour to go pick him up at 11 and we dare to leave Tristana alone for 30 minutes, which she takes advantage of to kill a potted christmas cactus. In the afternoon she sneaks onto the cushion behind Snookums and he lets her sleep there without hissing at her.
Sat 10.4. - Wax working (from home) again. Snookums is a grumpy old man and hisses at the kitten or gently pats her with his paw on the head when she annoys him, which is like... a lot... but he also lets her sidle up to him once or twice. And when she is yelling her head off in the next room, he goes to check on her if we aren't or even if we are a couple of times. I witness him sniff her back, then her head, then make a dismissive little sneeze like 'There's nothing wrong with this idiot.' Once he comes downstairs to check on her yelling when he's just gone up there to go to bed, and after determining nobody's dead he goes right back up, hahaha. Tristana starts playing in the livingroom and gets Rowan into a game of tag with her! They play tag for quite a while. I don't think anybody won (or maybe EVERYBODY won, except I couldn't get a good video).
Sun 11.4. - We go to the store and this time Tristana doesn't manage to destroy anything, although when we get back she's alone on the cushion by the window (Snookums gave up his spot rather than snuggle, evidently). To make up for that, we make stuffed chicken breasts for dinner and forget to hide/lock up the skillet while we're eating, enabling Snookums to go steal one, carry it to the sink and eat half the chicken and a fair bit of goat cheese. That's probably not good for his blood sugar (the cheese I mean). 😬 I finally get around to emailing my career counselor about the work practice since we have a meeting at the workplace tomorrow with my boss, and since she asked me a bunch of questions Thursday at lunch I already told her that it was all a little Too Much for me and I was thinking about decreasing my hours or possibly trying to switch to a work practice placement closer to home... which I obviously should have discussed with the counselor first, only he was on vacation last week anyway and before that I was just... exhausted... and not as close to nervous breakdown so I hadn't quite decided what to say/ask him about. But obviously, he needed to know what I told her before the meeting, so I guess that's waiting for him when he gets to work tomorrow!
I don't actually KNOW if I would rather keep going there for less hours, or try to find a closer one? I like it there, and I don't like change, but I do HATE the commute and it IS maybe slightly too heavy work for me?? I hate applying places and contacting people which is a strong argument for not switching spots, but OTOH if I could GET a work practice at a local store that could maybe make it a lot easier to get a real job at said store, and I do think I want to do THAT next.
