And Wax's brother and youngest niece are coming to visit this weekend, or tonight rather, so we tidied and cleaned the kitchen and all the spare junk in the dining room last night. It's no longer a junk room. Kind of. We put a bookshelf up in the corner and the stuff that doesn't fit in the closets is on the bookshelf for now. The bookshelf isn't really a permanent solution - the idea IS to someday use this room for like, family Christmas - but it can stay for now. The wall behind it has to be skimcoated with plaster anyway. There's a lot of recycling and a big pile of stuff we have to take directly to the dump in and out of the enclosed porch.
We need a doorbell that is NOT a smart doorbell and does NOT have a camera or intercom on it, so after a little bit of poking around, it looks like what we need is a wired doorbell. The wireless ones I find in Finnish hardware shops either have one or both of these features, or the doorbell portion is extremely poorly made and poorly reviewed, or run off of batteries that don't last very long. So we need an electrician for that, and also to buy a doorbell presumably at the friendly local hardware store. We have a couple of other odd jobs for an electrician too, so that's fortunate I guess. The funny part is that someone has only come to our door wanting in and had to knock like, five times in the year we've been here with a non-working one.
