cimoreneIt's been thawing gradually for a couple of weeks, but it's snowed twice and hailed once since last weekend, along with several days of windstorm. It is above freezing most of the time, just not enough to melt the remaining sheets of ice. I'm not really surprised and disappointed, as the last snow has been after Easter for several years in a row now.
The really outrageous part is that there have been several days of overcast, without any sunbeams coming in the windows at all, and those are very hard on my mood at this point. Cleaning the kitchen when the sun is behind a cloud feels near impossible. (Also my sinuses are miserable - which most likely means full of dust - and I can only expect them to get worse, because there's so much more cleaning to do. Wearing an N95 outside to keep the gravel dust out of them in a windstorm is doable, but wearing one the entire time I'm trying to do any cleaning in my own house is not.)
Wax and I both share a malfunction about asking people to do things, and that includes making phonecalls and trying to schedule professionals to provide paid services. Yes, we both know that in theory they want to do these things because it's how they get paid, but we've also both worked in customer service. Things we have to arrange with professionals and have been putting off:

- The garage: we have to call them about taking Bernie the Berlingo and his battery that was dead for too long in the cold, and trying to revive him.
- Then we have to arrange for a towtruck to take him there, because the garage doesn't have their own.
- We have to arrange a professional tree-trimming service to trim our 7-years overgrown trees and diagnose a few that appear sick. That has to be done REALLY soon because it needs to happen before the thaw is over.
- We have to have somebody come look at a water stain on our upstairs ceiling. We don't remember if it was there before, but... we have no idea how to tell.
- We have to make appointments for vaccine boosters. So annoying that we both keep forgetting about this! The second appointments were given automatically.
