A Sad Story of Cashmere
1 Nov 2022 08:45 pm1. I first got this yarn, ColourMart Cashmere/Merino 4/13NM dk wt in a peacock blue color, for my birthday in December of 2014. Initially
waxjism was going to knit me a sweater of my choosing, but she kept not feeling like it and eventually I got tired of waiting and decided to knit it myself.
2. In 2016 I eventually designed and then knitted this sweater with a feather lace motif, drawing my own charts. I changed my mind about everything many times and ultimately knitted each part of the sweater at least twice, including the sleeves, and from the sleeveholes up 4 times.

3. Because it was slightly too small - the sleeveholes were too tight to allow an undershirt to lie right, the hem hit a little too high and didn't drape well - I almost never wore it.
4. In 2019 I decided it was a waste of good cashmere and frogged it to begin again. I picked a pattern I'd been dying to try, Tsubaki by Hiroko Fukatsu, and cast on in June 2020. The sweater got put aside when I was working on other projects and not feeling like knitting, and I soon forgot where I was in the rather complicated pattern.

waxjism picked up the project and decided to finish it for me. She blithely knitted from just before you divide for the armholes (knitting down from a short row crew neck), both entire sleeves, and then a couple of more inches... before we found out the rest of the yarn was missing. We looked everywhere and eventually concluded we probably somehow lost or threw it away either in moving, or when we had to clean out all the fabric due to a fabric moth infestation last summer.
