New sweaters and new yarn acquisitions (so it's still the opposite of stash-busting, unfortunately)

These are the two sweaters Wax finished for me recently!

The blue one is the replacement for the peacock blue sweater that got arrested at croptop stage, obviously, pattern Tsubaki by Hiroko Fukatsu, and it's made in Sandnes Garn Merinoull. The gray one is the pattern Minori by Rievive in natural unbleached Finnish sheep's wool, Rintalan Tila Iivari from the rare Kainuunharmas breed.




I got a packet of emergency wool right after I decided to frog the hood on the purple hoodie, so it arrived after it was finished, but the color match is so exact that I actually probably COULD use it to add a hood, if only I could make the hood the right size, that is. I still didn't have the heart for it though. I have another venerable sweater jacket that's been worn for years and years that I want to finally fix because it's so close to perfect: replace the zipper (too long), reblock it and add a new shorter zipper or buttons instead, and frog an ill-fitting collar to replace it with a hood.

I also have a half-finished hat that I didn't order enough yarn for, and a sock I started when I ran out of hat because the extra skeins for the remaking project hadn't arrived yet. (I ordered Addi Crasy Trio needles, the flexible "circular needle" sock needles - it's three needles with a flexy middle and shorter tips that you use instead of a set of sock needles and yeah, I really do like them better.)

And then I ordered a big batch of black tweed for a cardigan with money my parents sent for my birthday. That hasn't arrived yet, but I have plenty to do in the meanwhile anyway.

They are gorgeous!!! I love the color of the second one and the designs are beautiful!

That grey one is everything I wish I could wear in a sweater, it looks so comfy. (High/big collars for some reason irritate my skin, though.) It's like 'curl up with a good book and a cup of tea while there's a blizzard outside' in sweater form.

It's common for the skin of the neck to be more sensitive! I would suggest silk, cashmere, and high-grade merino, or some combination of them - I tend to find others itchy on the neck. That sweater has a sort of wide collar, though, that doesn't touch the skin of the neck, so it's fine.

Huge applause for Wax. These sweaters are gorgeous and fit you so well. All the cablework is lovely. I love cabled sweaters but they can be tedious for me... I tend to prefer colorwork because I get excited about the next stitch and then the next stitch and then the next stitch. Cablework slows me down!

oooh, I hadn't seen the Addi Crasy Trios before. I've always preferred DPNs to circs EXCEPT for how annoyingly frequent it is to lose stitches off the ends, and it seems like the Trios would have that happen less often.

They are nice! I find the end stitches problematic on sock needles too, and also with sock needles I always have stitches on at least three of the needles, whereas with trios you have two needles of live stitches and one needle that you knit with. I never run out of fingers, which occasionally would happen with dpns if the wool was slippery or the stitches loose and I had to try to hold everything steady to knit.

ETA I've already seen imitators from other brands/no-brands in a Swedish shop. Meanwhile I've seen CrasyTrios cateogorized as sock needles, circular needles, and Other, depending on the shop.

I have done mosaic colorwork a few times, but I end up doing more cables because the things that I most want to wear are usually cabled. But I have a whole folder of 'fair isle to try out' that I've been adding to for years, meaning to teach myself fair isle.
