Some of the humor is based on the attitudes of the bright young wealthy twits and their sometimes ridiculous concerns, which can be trivial, but I'd say what he complains about most are his aunts, and after that probably the ridiculous roles he's asked to play in various schemes by his friends and by Jeeves. The rhythm of those dialogues was pretty accurate, just with the references switched out. And that captures the most recognizable aspect of the short stories.
