I started the gauge and pattern swatch for my much anticipated Stjärnkikare Fair Isle vest this morning, only to discover, to my great dismay, that my attempt to duplicate the colors in the pattern failed! I was really looking for colors that were extremely similar to the sample, but the blue I picked is too much lighter than the model blue, and after a few rounds of knitting, it didn't show up against the gray background color with enough contrast!
I looked around for another substitute color, but I don't have any good candidates. I have to wait until I have more yarn to make this vest. In the meanwhile, I have some other new yarn - the local wool from Stentorp - that I can make something with, but it still needs to be wound into balls, and I can't do that until these two cats get up off my lap.
I suppose the immediate necessity of getting some more fingering weight wool for colorwork provides a good excuse to pick up a couple more skeins of merino sock yarn, so I can finally make the house socks I wanted and use up the rest of an orphan skein that isn't enough for a pair on its own.
