Snookums and feline diabetes update
13 Jul 2024 10:35 pmSnookums has maybe lost weight? He seems skinny. He hasn't had insulin much lately because he became so sensitive to it that it was too risky to give it until his blood glucose was high enough to make him feel sick. He's had diarrhea pretty frequently throughout there. And the lack of opportunity to give him insulin has meant that I haven't been able to take a blood curve (a series of glucose tests over the 12 hour cycle after getting insulin to show how the blood glucose rises and falls, how far and how fast). A curve is the first thing the vet needs to make any judgements, so I need one to show her.
Thinking about all of this has been sending me spiraling. Even thinking about the necessity of the consultation is freaking me out. I'm so worried about him... and also I really hope he doesn't have to go through an elimination diet. Since he hasn't been feeling well, I feel constrained to let him sit on me and cuddle for comfort if he wants, and that reduces what I can do even more than the necessity of monitoring him. A lot of sitting up in bed on my phone because I don't want to disturb him.
