oh no I am going to sneeze again

Umm so as of just today I keep sneezing, lots and lots. I'd say I've had like ten sneezing spells today, maybe?

This seems like it should be indicative of an allergen, but how could I have got newly exposed to an allergen when I haven't left the house since the 23rd?

I hope I didn't somehow get covid from one of the relatives, although nobody was sick recently... but I can't find any indication of recent variants known to start with sneezing. And I have to admit that that sounds more like an allergy than like an infection of the airways...

I have never had formal allergy testing. I PROBABLY have a dust allergy because I live with post nasal drip all the time and so does my dad and my sister got the testing when she was little and it was dust for her. I definitely am violently allergic to at least one perfume ingredient, as well as hypersensitive to many other perfumes. I am not aware of any hay or pollen or food allergies or anything like that. I know you can suddenly become allergic to something when you weren't before, but... huh.

Minha avó, uma tia e eu mesma não podemos com certas mudanças de clima, cheiros ou substâncias simples como poeira ou pó em geral que começamos uma sinfonia de espirros e nariz escorrendo. Uma tragédia quando temos que sair de casa obviamente, mas até eu tive crises assim quando estive em isolamento médico então às vezes é só seu corpo querendo brincar de espirrar por nada como o próprio ar do ambiente. Mas nunca é demais fazer um teste de alergia, ajuda e muito ter ciência do que pode desencadear essas crises de espirros para evitar maiores problemas no futuro.

This time I attempted to rinse the sinuses with a couple of those little sealed capsules of sterile saline and it seemed to work, which does seem to support the idea that something was physically irritating them.

Os médicos sempre me recomendam lavar o nariz com soro fisiológico que em períodos de clima atípico - seco, com menos unidade ou calor abafador. Assim evita coriza e espirro, pois a região já é sensível e funciona como um filtro contra as impurezas do ar, mas pode se irritar facilmente em tempos menos úmidos ou ar poluído. Tivemos um período de seca e queimadas muito longo meses atrás que levou a muitos casos assim, depois veio o verão com chuvas intensas e não tem um que não esteja resfriado atualmente.

Yeah, I think it was recommended to me on a past period when my sinuses were irritated all the time and now I always keep some in the house. They're also useful for dry eyes, which I tend to get when the weather is dry. But this is the most dramatic help I've ever experienced. I guess there really was something quote specific that I inhaled that isn't everywhere else in my house, because I felt better almost right away and I think I only had two more sneezing spells after, one the first few hours.

Poeira de construção é o pior tipo que existe. Eu tive pneumonia por conta da reforma no vizinho, fiquei seis meses com ela incubada sem saber porque os sintomas eram diferentes da pneumonia comum. Então querida cuide-se bem ok

Ugh, how awful! Makes sense that it's particularly dangerous, though, as there's so much stuff in it that you don't want in your nose. Hopefully I remember my high filtration masks this spring...

Aqui em casa tenho máscaras e luvas descartáveis por conta das alergias de minha mãe, assim quando fazemos faxina ela não se expõe tanto.

I use surgical masks now for sweeping and dusting and shaking rugs, and it's much better! I never had them around before the pandemic.

Yeah, I used to frequently have to wrap a scarf around my head from being stuck near people wearing a lot of perfume. But the good masks are a hundred times better for that - it's only a little uncomfortable instead of feeling like I can't breathe or I'll choke.
