newspaper article from grandpa bob: in japan, they have a yen to rent even their friends.
when 29-year-old akiko gets married next month, she'll rent a reception room in a luxury hotel for the party, a christian preacher for the ceremony and eight strangers posing as friends to round out the guest list.
... 'the bride doesn't have so many friends, so she doesn't want to lose face in front of her new husband.'
