There's a lot of craptacular Holmes/Watson. I think the most frustrating thing is that (of the stuff I've read) many of the writers are very good, but the material just exceeds their grasp. (There are also some who suffer from Same Sex Scene Every Damn Time syndrome.)

Maybe it's just that sometimes noble failures are more frustrating than outright illiterate crap.
