mom's taking a student to the state-wide visual arts achievement awards, two hrs. away in montogomery, thus took [my] van and left me the mildewy broken car which i try to refuse to have anything to do with, but they keep putting me in these positions with no choice. hope she is bored and hot and gets in a traffic jam.
must go by paint store this morning to pick up a gallon; how sad that my room is so small, one gallon is all it takes? when we re-painted the new living room--it was my bedroom when i was nine--it took, what, four, five? (multiple coats for dark colors and trim.) the bathtub has been re-caulked and can't be used, the dog is excessively boisterous, and the paint store is not yet open.
apparently being upset works horrors on my stomach, which i didn't know about. as a result, had no lunch and dinner was a miserable failure, so i ate essentially a small bowl of oatmeal yesterday. same today thus far, but at least am ahead of yesterday.
made a printout (though forgot to double-space) of the original novel, which i haven't touched since december. astonishingly the space really DID help. is much more interesting and, i think, better, than any unoriginal fic i have written, at least potential-wise. but it's going to need re-writing, and whoever heard of scrapping and re-writing fifty percent of just your first seventy pages? it's still kind of exciting. i suppose i'm ready for it again.
edited to add that i found an envelope and thus
ninglor's package is ready for the mail.
hollsk's not so much. if your best friend had just had a baby what would YOU send her along with the baby's present?
