some fics i was considering for reccing: pretty bad in that 'eh?' way (harry/snape). and one that's just wrong on so many levels! same pairing and author. and actually, i think i prefer not to crack any of the novels i have bookmarked right now. no stomach for it.
...i lied. if only these smoothish mediocre stories could be shorter, there'd be no problem at all because you wouldn't have time to get sick of their annoying habits. i want to do a search-and-replace to kill all her goddamned asterisks. ahh, the hallmark of a reader of too much dime a dozen fantasy: attempting to make and describe her own spells. ::stabs story with a basilisk tooth:: every new element she introduces is because it's the best, most interesting, most secret, and most dangerous, and earns harry instant respect from everyone he encounters. he's suddenly become some kind of superhero with superknowledge--exactly the kind of story i relished in fourth and fifth grade.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. It's not really the things people do that get to me, it's the unrelentingly repetitive way they keep repeating them and doing them over and over and then revisiting them and also doing them again. Y'know?
