in this story of [livejournal.com profile] viva_gloria's they talk outright about how bootstrap wouldn't've drowned, just been pinned to the ocean bottom, unable to move. he's probably gone insane by the time the curse is lifted, and i imagine the curse means he can't starve to death either, but it's gotta hurt. and then when it's lifted... he'd drown. so, basically: YUCK.

my theory is that bootstrap's going to show up in the sequel(s). way too perfectly set up. eeee.

he could still be alive. that's a much more pleasant thought, anyway.

if he's anything like will, and jack says he is, i'm sure he would've found a way to escape his cannon ball in the time he's been underwater.

i wonder who they'd cast to play him?

well, he was underwater for a while. that ought to do something to a face :)

if there's father/son emotional stuff i will CRY LIKE A LITTLE GIRL. that always gets me. sniff.

No, no, no, Riding In Cars With Boys only made me hurl. Maybe I'm cured? Maybe! Whee.

Of course, then I watched Everwood and cried like the mushball I secretly am.

yeah, that really bugged me the first time i saw the movie... but then i think with the reference to davy jones' locker etc, the implication is that he would have been crushed... and thus(???) successfully killed. which is one of the weird inconsistencies of the movie. i mean, when they put the little bomb thing inside one of them and blow him up... his little bits don't come back to life and attack them (like the arm in the scene with the father).

so, yeah. that's what i told myself to calm my claustrophobic freak out over the idea of bootstrap at the bottom of the ocean for years - only to drown. bleh.

crushed? i don't think the chains would be heavy enough to crush him. oh, you mean the water pressure. well. i don't think so. cause water pressure kills by crushing the soft tissues. i don't think that could kill him unless it was heavy enough to pulverize bone.
