entertaining pirates badfic, as long as historical inaccuracies (none too glaring, mostly in the speech, society, that sort of thing) and elizabeth-villification don't piss you off TOO much.

how cool is it that lj is looking into a way to have your personal comments page style override the comment pages you visit?

Your Current Music thing made me think of Bollywood movies. Which I adore. And for which I still haven't found a suitable fandom!

oh. i'm a bit infatuated with them, though i only saw too. >.> i'm not sure i'd like any fandoms they generated, however.

It depends on the fandom that is generated! Anyway, we help mould the fandom so I would just barrel on in there and mould away.

But the material is so scattered and not available in a frustratingly third-worldy way. Because the Indian fanbase is enormous, of course, but it doesn't translate into online swoonage or even any useful pics or screencaps. And fanfic? I have found *one* very bad story of the 'alternative-ending' variety.

I tried to indoctrinate [livejournal.com profile] lazulus but she got bored half-way through Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, I'm afraid. *sighs*

Which two films did you see?

Khabie khushi khabie gam!!! (however that is spelled) I loved that! It is made by the same team who made Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (which I have seen around 10 times by now) with many of the same actors (and even the same character *names*).

I was so over-the-moon about both of the above that I immediately determined to incorporate Bollywood into my History of Cinema course. So I'm teaching this madness now. Heh.

Slash, however, remains firmly closeted.

it's like the fun kind of badfic--kkkg is, anyway; taal gets into the bad kind of badfic before the end.

Well, it's like Hollywood: there's utter shite out there but there is also marvellous stuff.

*off to drown internet techie miseries in "Devdas"*

i don't know; i think it's not a great deal like hollywood, because it's got a kind of youth and campiness that's dying out in hollywood, a sort of unselfconsciousness. they're not afraid of lame plots, impossible or improbable occurrences, wacky costumes and dance numbers... it's good, clean, enjoyable, badly-written fun. which is what i mean by 'the good kind of badfic.'
