my mom just bought a car--an adorable silver 01 chevy cavalier. the gas mileage is not phenomenal for a car that size, but it's better than our minivan's and she can probably get more for the van than she paid for the car (about $5500. whereas the van's value is more like $8000-$9000).
oh the lust though. i mean, i'm so jealous. it's spiffy and spotless and gorgeous. it handles like a DREAM.
the car i'm taking to texas is a 92 buick skylark--which are made for 70-year-old ladies anyway, and i've driven this car for so long! the heat and a/c are shot, the cd player is broken, the electric windows don't work anymore, the whole thing smells like mildew and the paint is horribly chipped all over the outside. it's actually worthless. the only thing in its favor is a V6 engine with a good deal of power, and some very neat handling. it gets worse gas mileage than a minivan.
