waaaaaaaaaaiit, beyoncé is now tied with norah jones, lauryn hill and alicia keys for most grammys for a female artist?

does anyone else think this is bizarre/wrong?

Yes, I think this is wrong

For one thing, she can't write a decent song. She can sing, I'll give her that, and she's very pretty, and her performances are usually entertaining (mostly because of the dancing and costumes) but her songs are so damned blah. I can't understand what people are listening to. I mean, half the reason Destiny's Child got so big was that they kept stealing old riffs to put in mediocre songs with even more mediocre lyrics. Now she doesn't even have those old, good riffs. That dangerously in love song? My dad, a musician for 40 years, FELL ASLEEP during the performance.

yeah. their lyrics (and her lyrics) are awful.

has she dropped the riffs? i thought she improvised too much. i remember this gospel song they used to sing where they added so much stuff that you couldn't tap your foot to it because it didn't even have a regular beat anymore.

I haven't heard any stolen stuff lately--the last one I remember was the stolen "Edge of Seventeen" Stevie Nicks riff. But I haven't been paying much attention either.

I think she improvises too much, too. A good performer knows where to stop and can usually even keep it in the regular beat.

Yeah, X-Tina does do that.

I don't know why I like her so much.

Perhaps it's because she can sing, but she doesn't pretend to write songs :)

she does write songs--although she doesn't pretend to. but her singing blows beyonce's, and most everyone else's, out of the water.
