i got the job! even though i gather they're actually *over*staffed, they liked me. my dorky enthusiasm for the grocery store came through, and that's what they were looking for.

in celebration, bought avocados--four, but jenny bought *eight.* i have only eaten one so far. had a dizzyingly happy lunchtime. jenny was making fun of me because i was singing 'fit as a fiddle' and 'good morning' and tap dancing* around the yard.

then we went to a thrift store and i found a madeleine l'engle book for twenty-five cents. can't remember the title, but i figure i can mail it to [livejournal.com profile] ninglor or some other l'engle fan even if i don't like it, at that price. also, a lord peter wimsey mystery that i hadn't read, and a children's novella for perrin from the 1970s--the hoboken chicken emergency by daniel m. pinkwater.

*tap dancing like a slow child without feet, that is. i don't actually know how to tap dance, i just watch singin in the rain a lot.

Congrats!

All this talk of avocados makes me want to try one... I've never had them before. 'Sides, we sell them for 89 cents where I work, so if I decide I don't like them it's no big loss ;)

oh my, at 89c.? for that, all you can get here is a small stringy one. you want it large, firmish but not too firm--they soften as they ripen, but any one soft spot indicates a bad bit or a bruise.

Great, I bought just such a one today after work. I figured a very soft one would be a bad idea. I'll try it tomorrow, see if I become as addicted as you are ;)
