i've finally finished it, and k'sal has finally recovered from everything to finish betaing it. i don't know how i could have ever thought i could finish it without her. the changes i made yesterday and the day before smoothed away the last splinters and now i'm *finally* happy with it.
i practically *sweated* this story out, as many of you will remember. it was begun at a very difficult time, just shortly after my dad's accident put him in an emergency room five hours from home. i was writing it on my laptop at the house of a family friend in between intensive care visiting hours. i continued to force it out in five hundred word pieces at a time all summer and fall. i distinctly remember crowing tothewayout when i got a couple of pages done in the bowl-crammed-with-stars scene; i remember hunching over the keyboard while my grandparents were visiting chewing my lip almost all the way off writing the walk-to-the-lake scene.
well, despite all that or because of it, i feel a tremendous sense of achievement being finally done, and i'm happy with the way it came out. even though i wrote something longer in two days last weekend!
i know you're skimming because you want the fic: here it is.
title: karl and viggo's manly-yet-gay camping adventure
author: cimorene
pairing: karl urban/viggo mortensen
rating: nc-17
disclaimer: both of them have kids, but i don't even know how old they are. this is all completely and totally made up.
summary: karl is tired of striking matches over soggy kindling with viggo.
(link goes to my fic journal because it won't fit in a single post)
