psp is better for airbrushing, borders and text.  photoshop is better for transparent gifs, layers, sharpening and other filters, and text effects.  (now that i have both in one place, i have to think about this.)

what's the difference between text and text effects? (i haven't used psp since version 5.something, so my recollection of psp's abilities may be different from what is actually available.)

text is putting words on. psp lets you specify the sizes better, and the letters come out sharper, with more legible spacing (esp noticeable in small arial, verdana, and trebuchet).

photoshop puts words with shadows, glowing edges, and various kinds of fascinating filters.
