i don't think i ever mentioned the extremely distressing fact that i've finished the entire contents of the sports night archive on trickster.  to my knowledge, there is no other archive, and i've also been through several extensive recs lists.  i think i may have mostly exhausted the available supply.  this is why i've been digging in tftf and csi.

i feel your pain. i hate exhausting a fandom's supply of fic, and it's happened a few times before - mostly with smaller fandoms such as sherlock holmes. that's why i prefer larger fandoms, such as star wars: tpm. they have a nice, big archive, and you know that new stuff is always being written by dedicated slashers. if a fandom gets too large, on the other hand, it gets really hard to filter out the tripe, and i get put off it. every now and then i try going back to hp fandom, but it's nearly -ing impossible to find good remus/sirius fic. it's all fifteen year olds writing melodrama and twenty-somethings trying to be sophisticated and clever. i don't know which is worse, but at least the former is heartfelt crap instead of derived crap. sigh. - end rant, with sincere apologies.

yeah. yeah, ds or tpm are good sized. hp is too fucking large.

for instance, s/r. way too big. harry/snape is more manageably sized, believe it or not.

I might get into h/s, just because it's smaller and the overall quality is better. but r/s will always be my true, badly-written love.

aw, you know... r/s is too otp to me, just too close to my heart, to tolerate even the slightest offness. wading through bad, mediocre and good looking for outstanding is just too much pain for my soul to bear. the stakes are lower for h/s. i just sort of like the templates for the characters. there's a compelling archetype in the insane older man and the brilliant student and all that antipathy, the secretiveness--but it's ONLY ONCE been done to live up to my wants, and even then, it doesn't quite match my imagination. i always have standards like this for the pairings i really doggedly like. it's rare that i've been satisfied. hell, just making me really happy by 99% satisfaction is rare enough.
